Design
Whether your renovating or building, you’re dealing with a work space that requires a lot of attention to detail with ergonomics, products, systems, ideas, all requiring your consideration, and in order to achieve the best value for money, use of space and enjoyment this can be a very time consuming event, that’s what we are here for its more enjoyable working with a professional by your side.
Initial meeting
We start with an initial meeting, either in the showroom or on site, you will meet with one of our qualified designers, all of whom who have an honest wealth of experience to assist you, they will discuss your requirements, objectives, budgets, specifications, wants and needs.
If you’re unsure of what you want, that’s ok, we will help you to bring out the ideas, to make the project a success, if you have ideas, magazines, photographs, brochures, great, bring them along and we can discuss them in detail to see what style you’re looking for, after we have a better idea of what you’re looking for we can commence sketching some outlines to fill the space.
Showroom meeting
Within 2 weeks, we meet at our showroom to review what took place at the initial meeting and to see what has developed, now that we have a better idea of what style we’re looking for, we review the computerised 3D drawings, sketches, plans of your new design, we start to bring in colours, materials, samples, finishes, fittings, etc to give life to the concept and to better envisage the final result.
We will have usually at this stage produce an preliminary proposal for your review, this will include the cabinetry, benchtops, installation and any required sub trades like the plumber and electrician, we will go over the details of the proposal so that you understand what everything is, you are welcome to take away any brochures, colour samples, etc as selected by our designer, you are not able to take away any drawings at this stage, as they are the property of the designer.
After the Showroom meeting
At this stage most people have completed about 70% of their project, there are still important details to be completed, this middle stage is usually about fine tuning our selections, colours, pricing, finishes etc, some people haven’t yet selected their appliances, sinks & taps, so they take this time to get some costing for their requirements, we have selected appliances available at our showroom like Fagor, Franke, Arc and Elica, we also can arrange pricing for the items that you a have selected, just bring us your written quotation from your supplier.
Contract Stage meeting
After completing all the fine tuning from the showroom meeting, we can then move onto the contract stage, here is were we put everything together into a formal arrangement, all that has been viewed and spoken about needs to be written down and signed for, we complete our drawings, plans and elevations, showing all the relevant visual details, the specifications showing all the items that add more detail to the drawings, and a contract stating what monies, dates and people are involved in this project. All details that have been decided on are included at this time, and all pages are to be signed stating that these documents make up the details of your project.
If later you decide to change something after the contract has been signed, this can be arranged with a variation, which will state the change, date, monetary value if required, this becomes an addendum to the contract, and is again signed and dated, giving us the go ahead to commence manufacturing.
Manufacture
All cabinets are made in our own factory to comply with Australian Standards AS/NZS 4386.1&2:1996, with the latest in computerised machinery, our past clientele can verify to the quality and workmanship that is built into every cabinet with mortise and tenon joints, A-Grade Laminex HMR White Aquaboard, Blum (guaranteed for life) hardware systems utilising CLIP top hinges and Tandembox drawer systems nothing is left to chance and where possible local suppliers and materials are used in the manufacture our products.
After the paperwork has been signed off, we can set a date for the site measure, this entails an accurate measuring of the walls. windows. doorways, ceilings, cornices, in essence everything that is relevant to the manufacture of the cabinets.
Then when the site measure is complete we can commence the set out, the set out converts all the measurements taken from site into our manufacturing system, this involves drawing an accurate map of your walls, windows, etc, into our computers adding the cabinets, panels, doors and tops to this map in order to confirm that all things fit.
When the set out is complete we can then send the generated G-code to the machines, this G-code tells the CNC machines what is required, then in the factory we load up the new job on the machine and load up the sheets of board for the machine to cut, all cutting is done by CNC computerised router systems, this includes all cutting, drilling, routering, shaping, then while on the bed these parts are labelled ready for edging and sorting.
Edging is done using the latest ABS quality edge banding, this is a hard wearing 1mm edge band that will stand up to a lifetime of knocks and bumps, the part are now sorted into the loading trolleys into individual slots for each cabinet, these then get delivered to the tradesmen’s benches for assembly.
Assembly is completed by our qualified tradesmen, all parts are numbered for each cabinet and part names are to be found on the attached label, cabinets feature a unique mortise and tenon joint system that helps to keep the cabinets square level and strong, the backs, ends bottoms and shelves are all made from 16mm quality board and are screwed together to achieve maximum strength, floor cabinets are supported on nylon adjustable legs which ensure strength and stability for all conditions.
Installation
Once the cabinets are assembled have been checked and are ready for installation, they are listed for installation, the installers and relevant trades are booked in conjunction with the client for a mutually agreed date that suits all parties.Prior to the trades arriving, the client should clear all old cabinets and the general work area of personal items.
For reasons of quality, health & safety while working in your home the general work area shall be considered a building site and is governed by the same rules as such, children, pets and unnecessary people should be kept out of the area while the tradesmen are working.
The installation commences with the removal of all the old cabinetry, disconnection of the plumbing and electrical and removal of the rubbish and to commence any building work if required to create the space for the new project.
Once the space is cleared and set up, we can commence reinstallation of the new electrical, water and gas lines to the new positions to coincide with the details on the plans, the cabinets can now be laid out in position ready to be levelled and fixed into place.
Once the cabinets are installed the benchtops can be organised, if their laminate top and the shape is suitable for immediate fixing they can be fixed into place now, if the shape is to complex has to many angles, curves etc, then the benchtop will require a template.
All other benchtops stone, engineered stone, timber, solid surface, etc require templates, the templates are fitted to the shape of the wall and the overhang of the cabinets to give a true image of the new benchtop shape, this will then be used to make the top, to facilitate an easier installation, this process for the manufacture of the new top takes anywhere between 2 to 4 weeks, when ready the tops can be fitted and the sink, dishwasher, hotplate can be connected.
During the templating process you will have no sink, dishwasher or hotplate, so other facilities should be organised.
